Exhibitions

CCAI presents three exhibitions annually by local, regional, or national artists in its Courthouse Gallery located in the Carson City Courthouse, 885 E Musser St. Three exhibitions annually also take place in the Western Nevada College’s Bristlecone Gallery, 2201 W College Parkway, Carson City. Commissioned essays usually accompany the shows in these galleries.

Exhibits of Great Basin artists’ work takes place in the Community Center’s Crowell Board Room (formerly the Sierra Room), where all City boards and commissions hold their public meetings, 851 E William St, Carson City. The Initiative presents its high school and college student art shows in the Community Development Building (the Brick), 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City.

Previously, CCAI produced seven residency/exhibitions at St. Mary’s Art Center, Virginia City [2008 – 2015] and monthly exhibitions at Comma Coffee [2004 – 2006]. Other projects have taken place at the Carson City Library, Classy Seconds thrift store, a garden shop, a Harley-Davidson showroom, and a series of pop-up shows in a store front.

 

Current Exhibitions

Fresh Air with Color, with work by 19 artists, is in the Community Center’s Crowell Board Room through September 25. Molly Allen’s exhibition, Soft Walls, Deep Water, will be in the Courthouse Gallery until September 25. E Washington Street, with photographs by Angel Vega is at CCAI’s Student Gallery from May 20 – September 18, 2025. Fables & Myths, with work by Elaine Parks and Sue Cotter, is in WNC’s Bristlecone Gallery through September 10.
