FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"Waves: Line and Rhythm "

CCAI's Courthouse Gallery presents "Waves: Line and Rhythm," an exhibition of prints and drawings by northern Nevada artist Galen Brown.

A reception for the artist will take place Thursday, February 7 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Carson City Courthouse, located at 885 East Musser Street in Carson City. Admission is free and the public is cordially invited. The exhibition runs through May 23.

Galen Brown's experience growing up in a Lake Tahoe beach house watching the weather and the water change constantly, influences his creative process. Repetition of pattern is key to his recording of subtle shifts in mood and texture. He uses common art materials such as a number two pencil or standard writing pens in his work.

"I'm interested in the buzz created between the lines," Mr. Brown states. "I passionately attack the paper to give it history and a layering of experience. The paper is an injured object showing the marks left by time with the residue of the movement of the hand."

Brown received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the San Francisco Art Institute, and has studied printmaking and painting in New York, China, and Mexico. He has produced work at San Francisco's distinguished Crown Point Press.

The CCAI Courthouse Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m to 5 p.m.
