“Au Revoir Mlle. Melanie at CCAI’s Caffeine! Gallery"
Capital City Arts Initiative's Caffeine! Gallery at Comma Coffee presents "Au Revoir Mlle. Melanie," an exhibition of pinhole photographs, during the month of October. There will be a reception on Wednesday, October 5th, from 5 to 6 p.m. Comma Coffee is located in Carson City's historic downtown at 312 Carson Street across from the State Legislature Building. The exhibition and reception are free and the public is cordially invited.
Ms. Berner made her first pinhole camera in 2001 while living in Melbourne, Australia and has been exploring the creation and use of home-made cameras ever since. At the root of her work is a fascination with the individual’s ability to create reality through experience and memory. “In my work I create a sense of space evocative of the waking state between dream and reality,” comments Ms. Berner.
A Reno native, Ms. Berner is actively involved in the arts community. A 2004 graduate of UNR’s Bachelor of Fine Arts Program, she has worked for the last three years as the associate program director for the Capital City Arts Initiative, leaving in September to return to her studies.
Caffeine! is a project sponsored by the Capital City Arts Initiative and Comma Coffee. Caffeine! presents month-long exhibitions of work by local artists.
