High School Pic[ks] 2 CCAI Exhibition at the Brick

The Capital City Arts Initiative [CCAI] announces its exhibition, High School Pic[ks] 2, at the Community Development Building [the Brick], 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City. Over forty artists from Carson, Dayton, Douglas, and Pioneer high schools have work in the exhibit. CCAI will host an artists’ reception on Wednesday, April 12, 5 – 6:30pm. The free exhibition is available to the public from April 3 – July 10, 2017. The building is open to the public Monday – Friday, 8am – noon, 1-4pm.

High School Pic[ks] 2 presents fifty art works in a wide variety of media including ceramics, collage, drawing, graphic design, painting, and photography that show the diversity of the students’ creativity.

The participating Carson High students include Ashley Britt, Brandon Browning, Ellen Cherpeski, Shelby Kuhlman, Karsen Law, Diana Lobato, Jessica Mathiesen, Destiny Mcgilray, Kyle Papke, Alexis Paradas, Emily Richardson, John Rupert, and Cheyenne Straw.

Dayton High is represented with art by Cameron Ansart, Cameron Banker, Alyssa Bispo, Sydney Cates, Hannah Gray, Nick Hein, Kali Lampshire, Sydnee Soderborg, and Kassie Strong.

Douglas High students are Abbie Baxter, Connor Brown, Maira Garcia, Vince Gonzales, Liam Holman, Talyn Jackson, Tabitha Keating, Logan Kyle, Annaliese Muth, Leslie Rea, Maggie Rich, Lindsey Salie, and Taylor Sullivan.

Pioneer High students include Miriam Rodriguez Diaz, Ceanna Fletcher, Trenton Lynn, Kayla Phillips, Garrett Watkins, and Isaiah Zacarias.

Sharon Rosse, CCAI Executive Director, said “CCAI is delighted to encourage the students’ with an exhibition. We are proud of the professional level of their work and of their teachers who encourage and nurture their imaginations and skill levels. People with confident imaginations are a cornerstone of American society and workforce.”

The Initiative is grateful to all the schools’ faculty who helped with the exhibition and inspired their students: Kara Ferrin, Mike Malley, and John Martin with Carson High; Malaynia Wick from Dayton High; Kelley Yost, KC Brennan, Zoe Short, and Rita Borselli with Douglas High; and Paul Lorion from Pioneer High.
