The Capital City Arts Initiative [CCAI] invites you to attend a reading and writing workshop on Tuesday, September 18 with widely published local writer, Cindie Geddes. The free events will take place at the Carson City Library, 900 N Roop St., Carson City Nevada. The writing workshop will take place from 5:30 – 7pm followed immediately by the reading at 7pm. These events are part of CCAI’s Books & Writers series co-sponsored with the Carson City Library.

Cindie Geddes is a Reno writer, editor, and publisher. She has had more than 300 articles published in regional and national magazines from Ladies Home Journal to Nevada Business Journal, has sold a dozen or so short stories to magazines and anthologies in four languages, and served as editor of three magazines. Two years ago, she founded Lucky Bat Books, which has since published more than 60 books with authors ranging from first-timers to 30-year best-selling veterans. Describing her career she says, “She really has a thing for words.” Geddes lives in Reno with her husband, son, and a “small pack of disobedient pets.”

Geddes invites all writers to attend the writing workshop with this description: “Internal critic getting you down? Not sure if what you’re writing is any good? Not sure how to write at all? Come learn to silence that little dictator through writing prompts, group exercises, and plenty of laughter. Discover your works and celebrate your own voice in an environment of support and encouragement. Kick the critic to the corner and come have some fun.”

Following the workshop, Geddes will read from two of her works in progress: a memoir, Primer Gray Girl, and a murder mystery, tentatively titled, Beach Bitches.
