Student Art Exhibition at the Brick

The Capital City Arts Initiative [CCAI] announces its exhibition, Photo Finished, at the Community  Development Building [the Brick], 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City. Ten artists from Carson High School have work in the exhibit. CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Thursday, January 24, 5 – 6:30pm. The free exhibition is available to the public from January 14 – March 31, 2019, Mondays – Fridays, 8am – noon and 1-4pm. Note: the original reception date was changed due to an approaching winter storm.

The artists are all students in Photography Instructor Kara Ferrin’s Advanced Photo class. Ferrin said, “The work is the students’ ‘capstone project,’ a culmination of all four years of photographic work and knowledge focused into their own artistic interpretations with very few limitations set by me.”

The Carson High students include Gilberto Avina, Kaelah Bowman, Kyla Cox, Jazlyn Duran, Haley Garver, Ben Granados, Destiny McGilvray, Gabe Morton, Amberlee Rangel, and Sarah Woods.

Sharon Rosse, CCAI Executive Director, said “CCAI is delighted to present this exhibition and grateful of the opportunity to work with Carson High faculty and students. We are proud of the professional level of the students’ work and of their teacher who encouraged and nurtured their imaginations and skill levels.”

This show is another in CCAI’s ongoing series of student exhibitions in the Brick.

The Capital City Arts Initiative is an artist-centered organization committed to the encouragement and support of artists and the arts and culture of Carson City and the surrounding region. The Initiative is committed to community building for the area through art projects and exhibitions, live events, arts education programs, artist residencies, and its online projects
