Michelle Lassaline: The Magic of Masks

The Michelle Lassaline’s exhibitions of landscapes and performances in her hand-Lassaline-portraitmade papier-mache animal masks draw audiences of all ages. A Carson City native, Lassaline’s work has been feuatured at the Nevada Museum of Art, Sierra Arts Foundation, St. Mary’s Art Center, UNR, and Sierra Nevada College. For her presentation in The Work of Artists 2015 series, Lassaline invites the public to meet and interact with some of her fanciful characters, including the Highland Cow, Pashmina Goat, Mountain Bluebird, and Wild Burro among others.

lassaline-mask1The Work of Artists 2015 features a series of talks and demonstrations with some of northern Nevada’s finest folk, traditional, and contemporary artists. The series, a collaboration of the Nevada Arts Council, SENarts, and the Capital City Arts Initiative [CCAI], connects artists with community members and those working in and visiting the Nevada State Legislative Building through interactive and engaging activities. All Work of Artists presentations are free and open to the public.

This SENarts event is co-sponsored by the Nevada Arts Council and the Capital City Arts Initiative.

The Capital City Arts Initiative is an artist-centered organization committed to the encouragement and support of artists and the arts and culture of Carson City and the surrounding region. The Initiative is committed to community building for the area’s diverse adult and youth populations through art projects and exhibitions, live events, arts education programs, artist residencies, and online projects.

The Capital City Arts Initiative [CCAI] is funded in part by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, John Ben Snow Memorial Trust, Nevada Arts Council, City of Carson City, Nevada Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities, U.S. Bank Foundation, Comstock Foundation for History and Culture, and John and Grace Nauman Foundation.
